Sunday 8th October 2017 Rochdale Half Marathon Rochdale UK No 1 Richard

Sunday 8th October  2017
Round the Lake

I completed the Rochdale Half Marathon today  . My hometown half marathon so I could walk to the start , what a luxury that was . It is now in it's 3rd year , I ran it in 2015 , missed 2016 and back again this year . The route follows the canal to Hollingworth Lake round the lake and back . Just one hill up to the Lake otherwise fairly flat .
318 runners finished  the half marathon , 435 the 10k  and 109 for the fun run. In 2016 437 finished the half marathon 308 the 10k and 83 the fun run . In 2015 507 finished the half marathon  368 the 10k and 103 the fun run .

  So 2015 978 runners
       2016 828 runners
       2017 862 runners

With it being my home town I was interested to see how it is going , these figures are finishers not entries . A big increase in the 10k and a few less in the half . So it's a  success for the Town, and all the people who put a lot of hard work into it . Next year it's Sunday 7th October 2018 and as I have Sofia half marathon on the 14th October I will probably go for the 10k . See you there . Its a great atmosphere outside the Town Hall with plenty of facilities, and a great chance to run round Hollingworth Lake with the roads closed in the half marathon .

Pleased with my time of 01.54. 56 .

Saturday 9th June 2018 Helsinki Half Marathon No 8 Finland

Saturday 9th June 2018 No 8  Richard 01:56.36 Jackie 02:19:02 We knew very little about Finland before we went . I now know it is very expensive the 3rd most expensive country in the EU , nearly everyone speaks English , it has a population of 5.5 million with 1.5 million living in Helsinki .    It was one of the smaller events we had entered with 2211 runners which made registration and getting to the start more relaxed . Also there was less demand for the toilets !! I loved the course it followed the coast line and harbor area along tarmac  paths perfect for running . Everything about this event was well organized , the start and finish areas, the drink stations, and the t-shirt was the best quality yet  .The results were instantaneous and detailed and included a finish line photo. My only problem was I had my first Marathon the weekend after and I definitely let it play on my mind .                                         RESULTS FOR RICHARD MASON location time s

Sunday 9th September 2018 No 12  Richard 01:55:19 Jackie 02:15:22 This was a big event for Tallinn and Estonia as it was taking place in the centenary year of the creation of the Republic of Estonia . One hundred years of the Republic of Estonia "On February 24, 2018, one hundred years passed from the proclamation of Estonia as an independent, democratic republic. This is undoubtedly one of the most important and greatest milestones in our history with great meaning for us all. The centenary is a celebration for everyone and the perfect opportunity for us to join our efforts towards building a better future together. " The Marathon ,Half Marathon 10km and 5km were set to enjoy the largest participation event in Estonia's 100 year history . Also the event was due to attract the largest number of foreign participants . Over the 3 days over 20.000 people took part a new record and not bad for a country with a population of  only 1.3 million. They re
